QPR U21 (5) – Huddersfield Town U21 (5)

U21 Professional Development League 2 (South)

Finished 5-5 – somehow? Incredibly it was 4-2 at half-time and the score flattered Huddersfield as we ran the show with the visitors scoring with their only ventures into our box.

Writing this I’m still wondering how we didn’t win? We took the lead after about four minutes with Oscar Gobern scoring. Huddersfield equalised about 90 seconds later before Hoilett scored his first of a hat-trick.

Once again we conceded to make it 2-2 with about 20 minutes gone. Hoilett then scored a peach of a free kick from 20 yards before Axel Prohouly scored with a great right-footed shot following some excellent work by Grego-Cox and Diakite, Half-time: 4-2. The score flattered Huddersfield.

The 2nd half started and Huddersfield got a third before Hoilett completed his hat-trick, showing great determination having been tackled in the box by the bye-line, he won the ball back from a tight angle. 5-3.

With about three minutes left we somehow scraped a draw. Joe Lumley took a short goal kick and our defender, under pressure in the ‘D’, was forced to play it back to the keeper, over hit it and the keeper was forced into palming it over for a corner.

Confusion reigned with a lot of arguments kicking off in the box with players displaying their handbags for about two minutes. But the ref noted the infringement and awarded an indirect free kick from about ten yards. The ball was smashed into the roof of the net with the whole team on the goal-line.

Then about 90 seconds later the ball was forced home to make it an unbelievable 5-5. As Lumley picked the ball out of the net the ref blew for full time!!!

I still think the score flattered Huddersfield, we hit the bar twice and their keeper Ed Wilczynski made four excellent saves.

Good to see Diakite play 90 minutes and he hit the bar from about 30 yards in the second-half. Both Prohouly and Gobern impressed me and Darnell Furlong was superb. Hoilett and Diakite ran the show and Grego-Cox was excellent.
