QPR (1) – Bristol City (0) – A much-improved Rangers Performance that was Positive, Refreshing and Entertaining

Posted on by Site Admin

Team: Smithies, Perch, Caulker, Onuoha, Lynch (Hamalainen), Borysiuk, Cousins (Gladwin), Luongo, Washington, Chery, Sylla (Polter) Subs Not Used: Ingram, Henry, Wszolek, Shodipo Attendance: 12,552 (including 1,083 visiting fans) Until he scored, you wouldn’t have known Sylla was on the pitch. Ditto Cousins when he went off injured. The goal gave Sylla a lot of confidence and he looked really good for the last 15 minutes or so. BUT Luongo and Smithies were superb. Good supporting performances from Borysiuk, Caulker, Washington … Continue reading

Memories of Paddington

Posted on by Site Admin

Born and brought up in Paddington, with family connections that go back well over a hundred years, ‘Paddington Paul’ was an obvious choice for me for a user name on this site. The first mention of Paddington is as ‘Paddintun’. ‘Tun’ being the Saxon word for a fortified farm. It is mentioned in documents that date to 998, recording lands granted to Monks at Westminster. However, there is no mention of Paddington in the Doomsday book, so it is likely … Continue reading

In Memory of George James McLeod: Pro-Footballer, Luton, Brentford & QPR

Posted on by Steve Russell

It was sad to hear the news of the passing of our one-time left-winger of the 1960’s, George McLeod. Originally from Scottish Highlands football, George moved south in the 1950’s to provide decent service for English clubs; Luton Town, Brentford and QPR. The bulk of his playing days were spent at Brentford (1958 – January 1964) where he played 207 games for the Bees and scored 20 goals. He certainly was a crowd favourite at Griffin Park. At the tail-end … Continue reading

A ball was lofted out to the right flank … Continue reading
