QPR Development Squad (0) – Sheffield United U21 (6)

U21 Professional Development League 2

Team: Clark, Friel, Shann, McDowell, Manufor, Neill, Bennie, Tarbotton, trialist, Talla, Petrie

Subs: Trialist (gk), Leahy, Putman, Radojevic, Strachan

The R’s went one down within five minutes after giving the ball away. Sam Aston’s shot hit the net following a deflection off Conor Clark.

At the other end, Kieran Petrie set-up the trialist striker, who then fired the ball directly at Henry Molyneux.

The referee booked Evan Easton for a foul on the Rangers trialist. Lorent Talla’s free kick ended up going behind for a corner.

A clash of heads in the box, resulted in Jack McDowell and Sai Sachdev in need of some attention.

In the 33rd minute, the R’s trialist forced a very good save from the keeper after he had belted the ball low, from around 25-yards.

Then, a ball in from the left found Fraser Neill, and his attempt at goal was blocked.

Teddy Tarbotton was shown a yellow card after a tug on an opponent. This was very soon followed by the R’s captain, Jack McDowell, getting booked. The free kick taken from the ‘D’ on the edge of the box, closely evaded the crossbar.

With the R’s on the attack, the referee surprisingly brought the first-half to an end, just one minute into added time?

Into the second-half, and Kieran Petrie’s excellent ball across the six-yard box was unfortunately in vain, as no team mate(s) had anticipated it.

The Blades doubled their lead just minutes later. Harry Boyes received the ball in a wide-left position, and the full-back then cut-in and smashed it into the bottom corner.

And just two minutes later. Billy Blacker received the ball in the box from a grounded Alfie Atherton, and the United No.8 then picked his spot.

Daniel Bennie was the next player to be booked after he had tugged an opponent’s shirt.

On 56 minutes, the Blades captain, Owen Hampson, blasted the ball into the roof of the net, after being set-up by Jack Waldron.

Number five arrived around the hour-mark, when Harry Boyes’ angled strike found the corner.

At this point, Micah Hyde brought on Jaiden Putman at the expense of Kieran Petrie.

And four minutes later, two further changes were made, which saw Jake Leahy and Lorenzo Strachan replace the trialist and Casey Shann respectively.

The Blades completed their goals tally after an unchallenged Owen Hampson fired the ball into the roof of the net.

Fraser Neill was the next player to be booked.

The Northern Development League 2 leaders almost added a seventh goal, when Jay Tinsdale’s shot came off Conor Clark’s legs.

There was a bit of a coming together off the ball. A number of players became involved and it resulted in Lorent Talla and a Blades player getting booked.

In the closing stages, Jay Tinsdale shot just past the upright.

Three days later, the R’s travelled to the SkyEx Community Stadium for the Premier League Cup tie against Preston North End’s U21’s.
