Rest in Peace, Ray Wilkins – 4 April 2018

We are desperately saddened and upset to learn of the passing of QPR and England midfield Ray Wilkins, aged 61.

Ray, born in Hillingdon in 1956, made 207 appearances for Queen’s Park Rangers and also managed the club for a spell succeeding Gerry Francis.

It was reported that he was taken ill on 30 March 2018 following a cardiac arrest. He was being cared for in St George’s Hospital, Tooting when he lost his battle.

Ray Wilkins was a fine servant of our club, gracing the field with his consummate skill and gentlemanly approach. He will never be forgotten.

He also represented Manchester United, AC Milan and Glasgow Rangers amongst other clubs.

We send our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

  1. Just awful, absolutely horrendous. Those of us who spend our whole lives looking at football people and trying to imitate the ones with real dignity and carry it with us in our humdrum lives… Sexton was one, Ray Ray Super Ray another. I cannot believe it. I just wish him and his family the utmost peace. RIP Ray xxx
