Johnny Brennan – Irish R & Stand-Up Comedian.

John used to be a season ticket holder in the Lower Loft, but is now based back in Dublin. Over the last ten years or so, he has been taking comedy much more seriously and last year he won the ‘Stand Up Ireland’s National Nothin But Funny Competition’ in the Laughter Lounge, Dublin. When he was asked what it was like to win such a prestigious competition, John said: “It’s about time, it’s my moment, I hadn’t got many left !”

On the 31st January, John ‘s doing the ‘Gong Show’ at the Comedy Store, Oxendon Street, near Piccadilly Circus. He then has another gig in the West End on the following night which is at the Laughing Horse Comedy Club, The Goats Tavern, Green Park. This is a competition that relies heavily on audience support, but unfortunately it clashes with our home game against Portsmouth. He is hoping to make it to the Reading game.

He’s back in London for three consecutive appearances in May. On the 17th he kicks off at the Lions Den Comedy Car Crash which is at the Bar Rumba, 36 Shafesbury Avenue. The following night, he’s appearing at the Comedy Cafe, Rivington Street, Shoreditch and the final one is in North London, at the Kings Head, 2 Crouch End Hill, N8.

Good luck to him and thanks to Noel (Qprmeath) for sending me the above image, which shows John presenting the Player of the Year award on behalf of the Irish R’s two years ago in Dublin.
