QPR U18 (3) – Wycombe Wanderers U18 (1)

Posted on by admin

Team: Hunter, Harriman, Waters, Ehmer, Bailey, Olley, Perring, Doughty, Cox, Molloy, Graham.  Subs: Sutherland, Parmenter, Bewick, Fernandez, Sanderson Goals from Max Ehmer and Elliott Cox were enough to defeat Oxford United in a friendly the previous Saturday and congratulations to Frankie Sutherland and (we think) Michael Harriman on their selection for the Irish U17’s. Niki-Lee Bulmer told us about his nasty eye injury before the game and also unavailable for selection were Christian Nanetti and David Morley. With no wind, a … Continue reading

A Brief Encounter In The Sahara Desert And Other Memories.

Posted on by admin

I first came into contact with Steve Russell some years ago when he was involved with the LSA and I happened to mention to him a strange encounter with an Algerian QPR supporter in the Sahara Desert in 1979. Since then I have been promising Steve that I’d write a piece about this event. As the years have gone by and my natural laziness has gotten worse, I’ve often thought about that Sahara incident and said to myself: ‘It’s really … Continue reading

Drama At Highbury in A 1956 London Challenge Cup Tie.

Posted on by admin

The London Challenge Cup had been a regular fixture since 1908 and Rangers had in fact won it the previous season by beating Brentford 2-0 in the final. So then in 1956, the R’s travelled to Highbury after deposing of Walthamstow Avenue 7-0 in Round One, with goals from Locke 3, Cameron 2, Balogun and Rhodes (pen). The match was played on Monday 15th October and a dramatic equaliser forced a replay. Team: Springett, Rhodes, Lay, Petchey, Powell, Dean, Quigley, … Continue reading

Time To Restart Rangers’ Production Line – Steve Gallen In ‘The Kilburn Times’

Posted on by admin

Ben Kosky wrote the following article which appeared in the ‘Kilburn Times’ a few days ago. Good luck to Steve Gallen and Marc Bircham – Steve Russell Remember the days when the youth set-up at QPR churned out first-team players at a regular rate ? So do Steve Gallen and Marc Bircham. No one could accuse Gallen – the newly appointed Youth Development Manager – or Bircham, a former Rangers captain and now back at the club as Gallen’s assistant, … Continue reading

Vox Populi – No.5 – Dave Barton – queensparkrangersfc.com

Q: Choose your starting line-up from the current squad A: Tough one, but if all fit I’d go with the following in a 4-2-3-1 formation:    Cerny, Leigertwood, Hall, Gorkss, Connolly, Routledge, Rowlands, Faurlin, Taarabt, Buzsaky, Helguson. Q: What are your thoughts on the new players coming in and the ones that have left ? A: I think it’s a shame we lost Jordi Lopez, he looked a decent player for us last season, but that wasn’t to be. I think … Continue reading

Vox Populi – No.4 – Dave McIntyre

Q: Choose your starting line-up from the current squad A: (4-2-3-1 formation), Marshall if he signs, Ramage, Hall, Gorkss, Connolly, Rowlands, Leigertwood, Taarabt, Buzsaky, Vine, Helguson.  Subs: Cerny, Mahon, Routledge, Faurlin, Ephraim, Balanta, Agyemang. Q: What are your thoughts on the new players coming in and the ones that have left ? A: I haven’t seen Faurlin, but the £3.5m price tag is complete fiction and once again the club have put themselves in a position where hyping a summer … Continue reading

Vox Populi – No.3 – Ben Kosky

Q: Choose your starting line-up with the current squad A: (4-3-2-1 formation): Marshall (if he signs), Ramage, Stewart, Gorkss, Connolly, Rowlands, Mahon, Buzsaky, Vine, Balanta, Agyemang. Q: What are your thoughts on the new players and the ones that have left ? A: It came as no great surprise to see Camp and Blackstock sold to Forest, but it’s hard to escape the feeling that we have given a potential rival two of our better players on the cheap. Ironically … Continue reading

Vox Populi – No.2 – Zenith R

Q: Choose your starting line-up from the current squad A: Cerny, Ramage, Gorkss, Connolly, Leigertwood (I’d prefer us to sign a left back, but Mikele can fill in until then), Routledge, Buzsaky, Taarabt, Rowlands, Agyemang and Vine Q: What are your thoughts on the new players coming in and the ones that have left ? A: I’ve not seen any of the new players yet, so it’s all about hopes and fears…..I hope we haven’t wasted £3.5m on Faurlin and … Continue reading

Vox Populi – No.1 – Adam From Vital Queens Park Rangers

Posted on by admin

Q: Choose your starting line-up from the current squad A: I’ll do this in terms of who is available to us at present. Firstly, I would start with Radek Cerny in goal because at the time of writing, Andy Marshall has not signed up yet and it’s too much of a step up for Elvijs Putnins. Across the back –four, I would start with Peter Ramage at right back, while he doesn’t give you maximum potential going forward, he is part … Continue reading
