The first attempt at goal was provided by the visitors, but Jhanaie Pierre’s shot went wide of the target.
At the other end, Courtnay Ward-Chambers’ stretched to meet Annie Dzyadyk’s cross, but she couldn’t quite get enough on it.
Then, after Grace Stanley was put through, the R’s striker’s shot was comfortably held by the keeper.
This was a good period for the home side. After Annie Dzyadyk was put through, Erin Radbourne did well to stop the ball with her legs.
The Spurs keeper then made a very good diving save from Courtnay Ward-Chambers’ strike at goal.
Annie Dzyadyk set-up Grace Stanley with an excellent ball, but the keeper managed to deny her.
Jess Cooper went on a run through the middle, which resulted in Erin Radbourne saving her shot and the ball then went for a corner.
Despite the R’s having the best of it, in the 40th minute, after the visitors had counter-attacked in numbers, the ball was hooked into the net.
And just before the break, Mr Kausar booked Courtnay Ward-Chambers. Half-time: 0-1.
Rangers got a deserved equaliser a few after the interval, following Renai McCrea’s run down the left-flank. Her cross found Annie Dzyadyk near the back-post who made no mistake slotting the ball home.
As the R’s looked to get their noses in front, in the 51st minute, Grace Stanley’s shot from outside the box was parried behind.
The first change came around the hour mark when Alana Munro came on for Courtnay Ward-Chambers.
This was followed ten minutes later, which saw Izzy Owen replacing Stevie Kennedy.
There was an interruption to proceedings when there was a partial floodlight failure. As the players waited patiently by the dugouts, the other two floodlights went off, but eventually play was able to resume.
Rangers went very close to a dramatic winner after Annie Dzyadyk’s cross ended up coming off the crossbar, and the ball at one point, looked as if it may have been scrambled over the line?
The final change was made on 85 minutes when Chloe Sampson was introduced at the expense of Renai McCrea.
It remained all-square at the final whistle so it was straight to penalties.
The visitors converted the first spot-kick and Annie Dzyadyk made no mistake with the next one.
The shoot-out concluded 4-5 in Tottenham’s favour,
