Tony Pennie – Rest in Peace.

Tony Pennie, a loyal R’s supporter for over 56 years passed away on the 5th May 2013 following a short illness.

The funeral service was held at St. George’s Church, Southall, with the reception at the British Legion in Greenford. There were a number of fellow QPR supporters and members of the Ealing Referee Association present at both gatherings.

Tony was a personal childhood friend of mine dating back to the 1950’s and as the years rolled by we always kept in contact. Both our families were quite close.

As well as being a keen footballer in his youth, Tony in later life became a well-qualified referee at non-league level. He was once asked to be a linesman in a Hayes v QPR friendly, circa 1986, but he had to decline the invitation because he was a season ticket holder at Loftus Road ! Up until recently he ran a ref’s training course.

Tony was brought up in the Acton Vale area before moving to Southall. He worked for many years as a driver for Fullers and Victoria Wines prior to retirement.

Special condolences to wife Pat and daughter Natasha.

God Bless you Tony, R.I.P. You will be missed by many.
