Top Versus Bottom At Ashton Gate & A New Club Record

Posted on by Site Admin

Team: Kenny, Hill, Walker, Gorkss, Connolly, Derry, Taarabt (Agyemang), Faurlin, Mackie, Ephraim (Smith), Helguson (Hulse). Subs Not Used: Cerny, Orr, Hall, Mahon. Attendance: 14,552 (1,204 R’s fans) Top versus bottom at Ashton Gate, live on Sky, QPR chasing a record unbeaten start to a season and it pointed to one thing, a thrashing ! Fortunately that didn’t come to fruition, although it was a tricky night for us. After 16 minutes of being pretty much all over Bristol (well 11 … Continue reading

Recent Youth Team News

Unfortunately Gareth Deane didn’t feature for the Northern Ireland U17’s in their first two UEFA qualifying Round matches. Hopefully he will be involved in their next game against Portugal on Wednesday. The U14’s had a magnificent 4-2 victory over Arsenal at Harlington on Sunday. The day before, the U18’s won again, when they recorded a 1-0 victory at Luton Town. Bruno Andrade was the scorer. The previous Saturday, they also beat Wycombe Wanderers at Harlington by the same score and … Continue reading

Another Point, Another Blank – Swansea City v QPR

Posted on by Site Admin

Team: Kenny, Hill, Walker, Gorkss, Connolly, Derry, Taarabt (Smith), Faurlin, Mackie, Ephraim (Clarke), Helguson (Agyemang). Subs Not Used:¬† Cerny, Orr, Hall, Mahon. Attendance: 16,742 (470 R’s fans) Having spent far too long to get to a ground that is only three or four miles from my current home, due to Swansea’s utterly ridiculous road and traffic light system, I arrived just in time to hear the team sheet. With Faurlin in for the injured Buzsaky, being the only change, whilst … Continue reading

Stalemate At The Bush – QPR v Norwich City

Posted on by Site Admin

Team: Kenny, Hill, Walker, Connolly, Gorkss, Derry, Taarabt (Smith), Buzsaky (Leigertwood), Mackie, Ephraim (Agyemang), Helguson. Subs Not Used: Cerny, Orr, Faurlin, Clarke. Attendance: 18,059 (including 3,122 Norwich fans) It was a frustrating game although we started brightly and full of confidence. No doubt, it was a loss to lose Buzsaky, but Leigertwood to replace him ??? I give in, he was so off the pace and what was Faurlin on the bench for if he wasn’t fit ? Two weeks … Continue reading

Edwin James Towers – Professional Footballer – 1954 to 1965 – R.I.P.

Posted on by Site Admin

Jim Towers was a prolific goal scoring forward in the lower reaches of the Football League for various clubs including Brentford, QPR and Aldershot, spanning the period from 1954 to 1965. His main role was in the Centre Forward/Inside Forward slot but he sometimes operated on the left wing. Although Jim was a supreme goal scoring icon for Brentford (club record of 153 goals in 262 league matches for the Bees), he was born locally and in his one season … Continue reading

‘Rangers Learn Lesson Of Sterling Saga’

Posted on by Site Admin

Youth team boss Steve Gallen says QPR were determined to avoid a repeat of the Raheem Sterling saga after agreeing terms with two more teenage prospects. Rangers eventually lost 15-year-old Sterling to Liverpool last year after the youngster had forced his way into the R’s reserve side and the England under-18 team, attracting a swathe of interest from bigger clubs. But the R’s moved quickly to tie Bruno Andrade – one of the stars of their Football League Youth Alliance … Continue reading

Posted on by Site Admin

On 20th September, Coll McDonnell brought us the news on facebook that the Victorian shops on the Goldhawk Road, numbered 30 to 52, are threatened with demolition: ‘It has come to my attention that Hammersmith and Fulham Council want to make ‚Äúimprovements‚Äù to Shepherds Bush Market. While some of the suggestions may be welcome, the Planning Brief proposes the demolition of 30-52 Goldhawk Road. ‘Singing In The Rain’ – Crystal Palace v QPR

Posted on by Site Admin

Strange how the walk back to Thornton Heath in the pouring rain after didn’t feel so arduous as expected, when Palace had seemingly nicked a point right at the death. I was almost skipping at one point with a grin like the Cheshire Cats’ in Alices’ Adventures. And that obviously was due to Heidar Helguson’s 5th goal of the season deep into injury time. Most teams would have seen the added 5 minutes out with neither side going over the … Continue reading
