James Taylor from Masters Football has been in touch regarding the six a-side legends tournament at Wembley Arena this Saturday. The R’s squad includes Danny Maddix, Steve Palmer, Michael Meaker, Bradley Allen, Tony Thorpe, Andy Tilson and Tony Roberts with David Bardsley still to be confirmed. The other London sides competing are: West Ham, Fulham, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea. Clive Wilson will be playing for Tottenham whilst Rufus Brevett and Steve Lomas will turn out for West Ham.
Masters football is a six a-side indoor competition where players aged over 35 are chosen by the Masters Football Selection Committee to represent one of their former clubs. There is no offside rule and games are played in two eight minute halves. The doors open at 6.30pm with kick-off at 8pm. Premium seat prices are ¬£25, an adult regular is ¬£18 and ¬£12 for concessions (U16 or over 65). There will also be some pre-game entertainment, alcohol and food will be available throughout the evening. There was a big R’s turnout at the Milton Keynes Ice Arena a few years ago and although Rangers were knocked out, it was a certainly a very enjoyable event.
