The latest Independent R’s badges feature the legendary Alec Stock, one as Manager and the other as a player. He was appointed in 1959 but also played for the R’s just before WW2 . Both badges are limited to 100 and are priced at £3.00 each. Postage within the UK is £1.30 for any number and International rates are available on request. I also have about a dozen or so of the previous badge but all the others have now … Continue reading →

Puma Youth Alliance League Cup Final Team: Putnins, Wright, Waters, Davenport, Harris, Olley, Ehmer, Smith, German, Sutherland, Parker Subs: Bulmer, Bailey, Perring, Cox, Nanetti The R’s first chance came from a free kick when Max Ehmer floated over a lovely ball into the box but somehow it evaded everyone. However, Rangers took the lead after 6 minutes when Josh Parker accelerated from the left wing, cut in and then placed the ball into the far corner from an acute angle. … Continue reading →

It came as a great shock when I heard that Mike Keen had died after a short illness. His family attended the Sheffield Wednesday match at Loftus Road and at their request there was a minute’s applause in his memory. As far as the match was concerned, it must be noted that the R’s came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 as they did at Wembley in 1967 ! On Monday, the first person I met in the car … Continue reading →

With the circumstances of Paulo Sousa’s departure now a legal issue that’s best avoided for the time being, here’s a look at the current contenders to help QPR make next season’s pay-offs. Sorry, I mean play-offs. Darren Ferguson. In the frame after his achievements at Peterborough and well placed to take advantage of a possible sea-change at QPR, where the Board desperately need to get it right this time to avoid presiding over a total farce. Beware of any Manager … Continue reading →

Following news of the immediate dismissal of Paulo Sousa’s right-hand man, Bruno Oliveira and various other murmerings in the Press, it wasn’t a total surprise when the following Club statement appeared on the Official Website, although some of its content certainly was:- ‘Queens Park Rangers Football Club has today (Thursday) had to terminate Paulo De Sousa’s employment with the Club with immediate effect. It came to the Club’s attention that Mr De Sousa had, without authority, divulged highly confidential and … Continue reading →

Two quotes have stuck in my mind over the years about QPR in Season 1968-69. One was at the beginning of the Season and came from the Manager, Alec Stock, and the other one was at the end from the Chairman, Jim Gregory. The previous two Seasons had seen the R’s bag a net full of goals playing good football and the atmosphere at matches was unbelievable. Our first match of the 68-69 Season was at home to Leicester City … Continue reading →

Team: Bulmer, Cox, Waters, Davenport, Harris, Wright, Smith, Ehmer, Parker, Vanterpool, Molloy Subs: Bailey, Perring, Olley, Nanetti, Fernandez Antonio German was training with the 1st team squad, Javonne Molloy started and the goalkeeper rotation continued. In fact, Max Ehmer was playing virtually as a striker and this proved to be very effective. Although the R’s can sometimes be very slow starters, a nice pass from Parker found Ehmer and his gentle lob from just inside the box went agonisingly just … Continue reading →

Charlie Marie is now three months old and known in the family circle as ‘Akos Babe Zsaky’. She will of course be a Rangers supporter and will come to games when Mum is at work. This causes a few problems because Annette is a Geordie and a Newcastle fan but myself and her Dad, my Son Daniel, don’t see any problems at all. We are trying our hardest to get her to say ‘UR’sss’ but she’s still a bit young … Continue reading →
