Keith Hunt R.I.P

It’s sad to report the premature death of lifelong R’s supporter Keith Hunt, who died suddenly at his family home in Worthing on 19th January 2009, aged just 62. Keith grew up in Cobbold Road, Shepherd’s Bush and then in the early 1970’s moved to Luton before finally settling on the Sussex coast.

I knew Keith quite well from R’s games during the late 1960’s and 1970’s and will always remember our jubilant celebrations together on the terraces of Ewood Park, on Wednesday 17th September 1969 when Mick Leach smashed home the winner five minutes from time to give Rangers a 1-0 victory. There was also his wry remark the same year at a frosty Burnden Park on Saturday 29th November when after the R’s had taken an early lead, Keith said that we will get four today lads. Yes, he was right but unfortunately Bolton Wanderers scored six !

The Club has very kindly agreed to publish a tribute from close friend Tony Pennie in a forthcoming edition of the match magazine but at the time of writing the date has yet to be confirmed. Keith leaves a wife Eileen, a son Lee and a daughter Lana. R.I.P Keith and thank you for your 55 years of loyal support for Queen’s Park Rangers Football Club.
