Ron Bannister R.I.P.

It was with great sadness that earlier this week I learnt that Ron Bannister had died suddenly at the weekend. Ron suffered a heart attack on Saturday, 14th July.

Ron had been an ardent supporter of QPR for over 45 years and was Chairman of QPR Official Supporters Club Committee.
All the OSC Committee members join me in sending their heartfelt sympathy to Ron’s wife Teresa and all his family in their great loss.

It was at the age of ten when Ron and his good friend Alan Pepper decided to go to Stamford Bridge, but in Ron’s words, “We never really liked the place. We then tried QPR and that was it – hooked for life”.

Despite a very busy work schedule, Ron has served on the Official Supporters Club Committee for about ten years. He was delighted when he was elected as Chairman, a role that he filled with great enthusiasm, kindness and always good humour. Ron of course, was the brains behind the fundraising QPR Quiz Nights which never failed to be a success and were enjoyed by many supporters.

Rest in Peace Ron ……You are already and always will be, hugely missed by all your fellow Committee members, both past and present and all QPR supporters who came to know you over the years.

  1. SO sorry to hear this bad news.

Ron was a great person who loved Queens Park Rangers and was always happy to talk and chat about qpr and his family, He always asked about my wife Sarah and our daughter Keeley everytime we saw eachother at away games, Ron was a top man, Who will be sadly missed by us and everyone who was lucky enough to have known him.

    Condolences to all his family

    R.I.P RON

  2. It is the wish of Ron’s family, that any funeral tributes should be made in the form of a donation in Ron’s memory to go to the QPR Youth Academy.
Anybody wishing to do this should post or drop it in to Jenny Elliott, QPR Box Office Manager. Cheques should be made payable to “QPR Official Supporters Club”.
A presentation to the Youth Academy will then be made at a later date.
This decision by the family, shows the high regard they have for Ron’s love of QPR.

If anybody wishes to have details of the funeral arrangements, then please get in touch with me: patqpr@aol.com
