QPR U18 (2) – Brentford U18 (5)

U18 Professional Development League 2

Team: Taylor, Tang, Moore, Sandiford, Majesty, Wiles, McAvoy, Ikoroha, Wright, Sanyaolu, Trujillo

Subs: Fittall, Boddy, Anderson, Mitchell-Abadom, Whitehead

On a cold morning at the TSG Training Centre, Domeiro Bobb-Semple, with the goal at his mercy, shot over the bar.

The Bees took the lead when a low ball in from the right was tapped in by Nathaniel Ogungbemi, after Kasey Taylor had saved Bobb-Semple’s initial attempt.

At the other end, Ashley Trujillo’s free kick from a widish position, ended up going behind for a corner.

On 17 minutes, Bobb-Semple played the ball to Giscombe, whose shot was saved by the keeper and the former’s follow-up ended up wide of the target.

I have to say that some of the Bees players were getting away with some constant shirt pulling!

Brentford doubled their lead around the half-hour mark in controversial circumstances! As they pressed forward, Jai Bansoodeb pulled Jerrell Tang half-way round on the left-wing, before Bobb-Semple had squeezed the ball in at the far post.

Then, play was temporarily halted when Kasey Taylor went down in need of some attention.

Rangers’ first attempt on goal came on 39 minutes when Philip Sanyaolu’s shot went just over the crossbar.

The home side were now having their best spell of the half. Following James McAvoy’s superb cross from the right, Layton Nicholl made a good stop, but Ashley Trujillo was quickest to the rebound and headed the ball home.

Rangers’ equaliser came a minute or so later, after Nkhai Majesty’s excellent run through the middle. Resulting in Philip Sanyaolu’s low cross, and with pressure from Ashley Trujillo, the ball came off a Bees defender and into the net. Half-time: 2-2.

Brentford re-took the lead a minute or so after the interval. But again, Mr Wright failed to intervene when an R’s player had been clearly pushed over near the half-way line in the build-up!

Domeiro Bobb-Semple then set-up Jacob Hanson who proceeded to slot the ball wide of the R’s keeper.

Before being on the end of a heavy challenge, James McAvoy was blatantly having his shirt pulled, but once again Mr Wright wasn’t interested!

On 50 minutes, As Ashley Trujillo and Archie Trimboli both went up to win the ball, Mr Wright falsely claimed that the R‘s player had impeded his opponent with his elbow and booked him!

Brentford went 4-2 up around the hour-mark courtesy of Naeem Giscombe.

Tom Charles made his first change soon after, when Harvey Boddy replaced James McAvoy. Philp Sanyaolu then moved over to the right-wing.

Kasey Taylor did well to get his hand to Jovan Kasujja’s low strike at the far post.

The away side went on to increase their lead when Yerime Quattara’s shot got a slight deflection before entering the net.

For the hosts, Ashley Trujillo’s pass to Kyreece Moore got the R’s captain to the bye-line, and his cross into the box was headed goalwards by Philip Sanyaolu, but the keeper managed to get down to hold the ball.

Then, nice play by Kyreece Moore led to Philip Sanyaolu’s long ball into the box, but Ashley Trujillo couldn’t quite reach it.

From another good move, Philip Sanyaolu’s angled strike was held by the keeper.

The Brentford captain, Aidan Golding, was booked on 76 minutes.

With blood on his shirt, Tom Wiles went off to change it and returned with a No.17 on his back, and on 80 minutes Will Whitehead was introduced.

Six minutes later, Jerrell Tang made way for Isik Mitchell-Abadom.

Brentford went close to adding another when Yerime Quattara stabbed the ball wide from close range.

Will Whitehead was booked two minutes into added time and three minutes later Mr Wright blew the final whistle.
