Youth Alliance Cup Team: Deane, Downes, Walker, Champion, Browne, Sendles-White, Simmonds, Hubble, Gibbons, Henry-Francis, Fitzpatrick Subs: McDonnell, Monthe, Koeris, Daly, Adekunle When I arrived the 1st team squad were going through their paces and two QPR Girls matches were set to take place. Marcel Henry-Francis was back having completed his loan spell with Hampton & Richmond after making two appearances. The match kicked off 5 minutes late and Rangers were soon in their stride. A Henry-Francis shot from a fairly … Continue reading →

Following on from last season’s walk to Vicarage Road, QPR in the Community have organised another fundraiser for the Tiger Cubs this Sunday. The walk to Watford raised just under £10,000 and this is the target for the latest fundraiser. Thirty walkers, including Paul Finney from the Independent R’s, will be leaving Loftus Road at around 9am for White Hart Lane. For further details please click on the following link: http://www.qprcommunitytrust.co.uk/default.aspx To sponsor you can either go to the fundraising … Continue reading →

Situated close to Hammersmith Bridge, this riverside pub is said to have been established in 1849 and then re-built in its present form around 1870/80. The Hammersmith Regatta in August 1921 was in aid of the West London Hospital and the prizes were presented on the balcony of the West End Boathouse which used to stand on the opposite corner of Mall Road. It was destroyed in the Second World War and was later replaced by private flats. The pub … Continue reading →

‘When Rangers Win and Chelsea Lose, Oh Rangers, You Got Me Singing the Blues’. The fact that both these lines happened in the same game makes it all the sweeter. Queen’s Park Rangers beat Chelsea in an ill tempered local derby which saw the visitors reduced to nine men before half-time. QPR won their first home game since April and their first win at home in the Premier League since beating West Ham back in April 1996 with the only … Continue reading →

Slovan Bratislava 3 – QPR 3: UEFA Cup 2nd Round 1st Leg – 20th October 1976 If there was ever to be a vote held to address the above question then there would be several games that without a doubt would be contenders. The 4-1 win at Old Trafford on New Year’s Day 1992, the 5-1 victory at the just crowned Division One Champions, Derby County in August 1975, maybe the wins at Anfield in March 1991 and Goodison Park … Continue reading →

Paul Harford passed away last month after a long illness. He lived around the corner from me in South Harrow although he was actually born in Cheltenham and it wasn’t until he eventually moved to Kilburn in the late 50’s that he became an R’s fan. I was looking through my 1964/65 programmes recently and in the Walsall programme dated 1st January 1965 (when Friday night was Rangers night), I noticed that Paul had won £2.00 in the Jackpot Draw … Continue reading →

QPR’s search for their first home win of the season continued as they played out a dour 1-1 draw with struggling Blackburn Rovers. Rangers did manage to take the lead for the first time at home since they hosted Leeds last May with Heidar Helguson becoming the first QPR player to score at Loftus Road in the Premier League since Kevin Gallen in April ’96. But Rangers had to settle for their third consecutive home draw. Both sides came into … Continue reading →

Breaks in the football season nowadays tend to be due to internationals, but they’re nothing new and clubs have often filled them with friendly games to help maintain players match fitness and to generate some income. Back in October 1987, Rangers travelled the relatively short distance to Le Havre in France for a Saturday evening friendly game. Rangers were top of the table and playing at Anfield one week later versus second placed Liverpool. It was the season where there … Continue reading →

Seven years after QPR visited my home town Hoganas, it was finally time for me to watch QPR for the first time and it was going to be twice in three days ! Rangers had arrived in Sweden about a week earlier and started off their pre-season tour by beating GAIS 3-1 in Gothenburg in front of 1,617 spectators and two days later a crowd of 830 watched amateur side, Myresjo being comfortably beaten 7-2. The third game of the … Continue reading →
