Our under 18s fought out a very entertaining draw against a capable Bolton side at TSG Heston
yesterday. It was the proverbial ‘ game of two halves’.
We made 3 changes from the side that performed so well against AFC Wimbledon last weekend.
First half Bolton were the better team with goalkeeper Cian Osborne making four very good saves
and his double saves on 18 minutes were outstanding.
Despite being dominated it was Kemuel Edouard-Marrison who gave us the lead on 32 minutes when
he found the bottom corner with a cool finish.
The lead only lasted 3 minutes as Bolton #11 ran from the half way line and slipped the ball under
Osbornes dive.
Right on half time Bolton could’ve took the lead they probably deserved on play but Osborne made his
fourth save of the half. HT 1-1
At half time some of us were saying we need to start being more intensive, more offensive and get
in the oppositions faces and press them high up the pitch.
I’m guessing the coaches said the same as we started the second half on the front foot.
Within 3 minutes of the start some tidy work by Kevin Wadham saw him slip in captain William Whitehead
some twenty yards out and he took aim and saw his fierce shot hit the bar and bounce down on the goal
Line.
Two minutes later, Kevin Wadham out wide, again cut inside the right back onto his favoured left foot and
hit a 15 yard screamer into the top corner in off the bar.
Again our lead only lasted 3 minutes though. But we were playing some lovely football with both wingers
Wadham and Emmanuel Owade attacking the full backs at will and the two central midfielder Thomas Wiles
and Whitehead having a heavy influence on the game.
On the hour some good work by left back Ruben Michaud and Whitehead finished up with Owade finding the
bottom right hand corner with a well placed shot from 15 yards to take the lead a second time.
The last 15 minutes saw the game become end to end in what was a great game. Bolton introduced a couple
of very tall boys near the end to boost the attack as they searched for an equaliser but it was their number 5
who found the net on 85 with a header from a corner.
A thoroughly enjoyable game with two teams playing decent football. We took a while to get going but were
outstanding second half , at half time I would’ve been grateful for the point against a very tidy Bolton side .
FT 3-3.
