A 3-3 Draw for the Development Squad Today...

Post by Steve Russell »

I didn't attend the game at Heston earlier today but Chris Hewitt did...

'Development Squad (3) - Hull City U21 (3)

Scorers: Akindileni, Obikwu, Wright.
Should have won, Hull scored on 90+3.

We played them off the park in the 2nd half'

Chris's report on our Facebook group....

QPR development squad 3 Hull City 3.
The proverbial game of two halves. Hull the better team first half and led 1-0.

We created very little first half despite starting the better. On 3 minutes Emerson Sutton
got to the left byline and hit a dangerous cross shot low into the six yard and try as he might
Ashley Trujillo couldn’t force the cross over the line from a couple of yards.

Sutton then went on to have two shots within minutes of each other but were blocked by Hull
defenders.

Hull took the lead on 20 minutes when a decent cross to the back post saw #11 Ed Devine
head home from 3 yards at the back post.

Hull then dominate the rest of the first half with our defence doing well to keep the score 1-0.

On 45 minutes Leon Scarlett put in a decent cross from the right wing and Trujillo had a free header
that went just over the bar. HT 0-1.

Following a 21 minute half time break , we started the second half with much more aggression and
pressing high from the first second.

Within 90 seconds a cross by Archie O’Brien caused a bit of confusion in the box and captain
Timothy Akindileni smashed home the equaliser from 10 yards.

Within 4 minutes of the equaliser we continued to attack and Sutton , following a good run saw his shot
go inches wide.

On 55 minutes Sutton was at it again, running at the defence and causing chaos. His cross to the far
post saw Justin Obiwiku hit a 10 yard shot in off the bar to take the lead. It was Obikwus last involvement
as he was replaced by Josh Wright before Hull could restart the game.

The lead only lasted 4 minutes though and the equaliser came against the run of play. Another four minutes
later we had retaken the lead.

Left back Kyreece Moore took a quick throw in to Sutton who once again put in an excellent cross and the ball
was smashed home by Wright from ten yards. Wright had a decent header saved by the keeper and then a
dangerous cross by Charlie Street was palmed over the bar for a corner.

From the short corner Sutton let fly from 25 yards and the keeper saved comfortably.

On 78 minutes Archie O’Brien tried his luck from 20 yards and the ball went inches over the bar. Within two
minutes Fraser Neill fed Kalen Brunson in the box and from a tight angle on the right he forced the keeper
into a great save.

On 85 minutes it was Rico Kennedy who was found in space and once again his 25 yarder was saved by the
keeper. 3 minutes into the 11 added on Hull equalised with their first venture into our box in . about 20 minutes.

Then 3 minutes from the end of time added on, Wright turned the defender inside out, burst forward into the box
and with 4 against 2 he fed Kennedy on the penalty spot and his fierce shot was somehow saved by the keeper ,
who it must be said had a great game.

We would have deserved the winner as second half it was mainly one way traffic with great performances all over
the pitch. We will play worse this season and win. Such is football.
