From the Club...
JOE Walsh has joined Wigan Athletic on loan.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper will stay with the Latics for the 2026/27 season.
Walsh, who joined QPR from Gillingham in 2021 at the age of 18, made 24 appearances
for the R’s last season. To date, he has made 31 outings in all competitions for the club.
Walsh previously enjoyed short-term loan spells with Dorking Wanderers, Maidenhead United
and Accrington Stanley.
Under Gary Caldwell, Wigan finished 15th in League One in 2025/26 after he successfully
steered them away from relegation following his appointment in February.
Their pre-season campaign kicks off at home to Port Vale on 18th July.
CEO Christian Nourry said: “Joe obtained a significant amount of experience last season with his
23 EFL Championship games, showing that he has all of the qualities to become a top goalkeeper
at this level and beyond, with strong moments across his claims, shot-stopping and quality with
the ball at his feet.
“Now he is going to an environment where he will be further afforded the possibility to put this all
together on a regular basis.
“We will be watching and supporting Joe closely this season and wish both him and Wigan the best
success for the 2026/27 campaign.”
