Good news, frpm the Club...

MATTEO Salamon has signed a new contract at QPR, extending his long association with the club.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper joined the R’s when he was just 11. He signed his first pro deal in 2022,
and he is delighted to continue his career in West London.

“I feel ecstatic,” he said. “I love this club, the people around it and just everything about it.

“I've seen it grow from where it was before - it's beautiful. There have been a lot of positive changes.”

Salamon trains with the first team on a daily basis, and he says this exposure has had a huge impact
on his development.

“It's helped me so much - so, so much,” he said. “Just being around the group, I feel like I see the game
a lot better now. Hopefully I can keep getting myself into that first-team environment.”

While still only young himself, Salamon says he understand he has a key role to play in helping other y
oung players as they transition into the first-team fold.

“Being a role model or a mentor for those young boys is really important to me,” he said.

“It doesn't just help them in feeling settled into training, it also helps me and shows that I've got
those qualities to do it. It allows me to work on those attributes.”

Salamon is grateful for the support he has received from his fellow stoppers, as well as head of
goalkeeping, Andrew Sparkes.

“I consider myself really lucky with the goalies that I've come across at QPR,” Salamon said.

“Every goalie's been unreal - even the younger boys like Murph (Cooper) and Joe (Walsh), I've never
felt out of place with them.

“They've always taken me in, they see me as an equal and one of them, which means so much to me.

“Sparkesy’s coaching style was something I had to get used to - he's a modern goalkeeper coach, and
I really enjoy his outlook on the game.”

“Now it is about working hard with Sparkesy every day to further develop his game.”
