Sleepwalking into relegation

Post by Tommy Cunningham »

If like me you are nervous regarding the possibility of relegation this season,
then I would urge you to watch Julien Stephan’s post match interview last night.

It was very uninspiring to say the least, once again he spoke about getting another
4 points. The last time he said that, we have lost 4 games on the bounce since and
2 of those defeats were heavy defeats.

His team selection last night was another example of how clueless this man is, to
select Saito again after a woeful performance on Sunday and then hook him at
half time really shows you how much of a mess this club is in.

Julien Stephan is done at QPR and should be relieved of his duties this morning,
this squad of misfits assembled by Christian Nourry are not playing for him and i
t’s very evident when watching the games.

Ruben Gnanalingam needs to step up now.

As I have said about the only things he got right was to not wait until near
the end for subs and to put Poku on.

Our display in the first half was unacceptable and he seemed to be doing very
little to change it. It was obvious after the first few minutes we were playing to
our recent inept form and we were lucky not to be four down at halftime.

Birmingham were not that good but we made them look world beaters as closing
down and tackling appears to have been banned.

The way teams find space and can pass to each other without challenge is unacceptable.

Are they told to do this or has he lost the team?
Once again I feel sorry for the travelling fans and another defeat is coming at Leicester.

Being gluttons for punishment Kerrins and I are attending the Portsmouth game and they
are a workmanlike and physical side so the usual “six on trot defeats” looks on despite
their league position which as we know counts for nothing.

If we are going to change managers once again please do it now so the
incoming manager can see what he has been lumbered with and can plan
for next season accordingly.

We know this team is capable of putting in performances but if they
can’t do it consistently there must be a disconnect between the team
and the manager.

No more foreign experiments please we need a home grown manager with
proven experience and familiar with the demands of this League.
No more learning as we go along.

Let the manager select his players and let him get on with it without interference
from above. It just doesn’t work and hopefully the Board might get the message.

Essex I agree with you about getting a new manager in now, Julien Stephan
looked absolutely shot when talking after the game last night.

Julien Stephan is probably a very nice guy and a good football coach, but
he’s just not right for managing QPR in the Championship as results have proved.

If the club had any ambition or vision going forward, they would look at replacing
him now.

This would enable any new manager coming in time to assess the dross recruited
this season, players could be moved on and recruited this summer. Admittedly
moving some of these misfits on will be very difficult.

I have absolutely no confidence in this squad of players, getting us the necessary
amount of points required to save us from relegation.

The club need to act now before it’s too late, although I must be honest and say
the people running our club are not very good.

Another defeat on Saturday and the alarm bells will start ringing.

Even with 4 straight defeats and 12 consecutive goals against without reply, I still can't contemplate that we can't knock out a few wins.

There's got to be loyalty to the shirt, to the fans and to the captain in there somewhere to drive the squad to pull out a committed and planned performance.

You can't go from sniffing a top 6 spot without some modicum of talent and commitment. To be inching closer to he danger zone without any fight for turnaround, makes no sense.

Even if playing to your best for no reason other to put yourself in the shop window to interest a championship club should the hoops get sucked into League 1, every player must have some driving reason to give their best.

Two wins should secure the season. Got to come away from Leicester / Portsmouth with one of them.

Prob need manager out as soon as to allow recovery plan to get it together
