Welcome Home Ronnie....

Great news from the Club...
Signed for a reported fee of £4.5m....

'QPR have completed the permanent capture of defender Ronnie Edwards.
The 22-year-old has signed a long-term deal with the R’s, joining from Southampton
for an undisclosed fee.

Edwards spent the second half of last season on loan with Rangers – scooping the Young
Player of the Year award in the process - and now he’s excited to be back in W12

“I’m buzzing and can’t wait to get going,” he said.

“When I came here last January, I had an amazing time. I felt like I was at home straight
away, I loved everything about it; the boys, the staff, the fans - so it was a no-brainer for me.

“I thought my loan probably couldn't have gone any better. It's like a different mentality now,
knowing that I'm here permanently. It feels amazing.”

Edwards, who came through the ranks at Barnet and had a four-year stay at Peterborough United
before joining Southampton 18 months ago, admits his relationship with the QPR fans played a part
in his decision to return.

“The fans welcomed me so quickly - for some reason they loved what they saw,” he said.

“When you go out on the pitch, you're going to give it 100%, whether it's good enough or not.
That's what every player tries to do. That's what I've done in the QPR shirt.”

Having kept a close eye on Rangers this season, Edwards is looking forward to stepping out at
MATRADE Loftus Road again.

“I just think it is a special place,” he said.

“It’s a tough place to go to. When you play there as a home player, you've got so much confidence.
We've made a good start and hopefully we can do the same in the second half of the season.”

The England U21 international comes from a QPR-supporting family and they are all excited to see
his adventure here continue.

“My dad’s over the moon – all of the family is,” he said.

“They see how much I enjoyed it last time. They just want me to have a smile back on my face,
working hard and playing at a place that I love.”

CEO Christian Nourry said: “It’s great to welcome Ronnie and his family back to the club on a
permanent basis.

“His talent and mentality are not up for debate - both are first rate. We hope that together
we can strive for better things.”
