From the Club...
'QPR’s UNDER-16's recently returned from competing in Cairo at the 2025 Elite Egypt Cup.
Rangers were among 18 teams involved from around the world, including the likes of
Bayer Leverkusen (Germany), Palmeiras (Brazil) and Sporting Lisbon (Portugal).
The tournament was hosted at Al Ahly FC, the most successful club in Africa with
45 Egyptian Premier League titles, 39 Egypt Cup titles and 16 Egyptian Super Cups to their
name.
Rangers played a gruelling five games on the opening day, signing off their stay on Day 2
with a 3-1 win over Hungarian outfit Mészöly Budapest.
Off the pitch, the young R’s also enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Egypt’s world-famous
Pyramids of Giza before heading home.
It’s the second time QPR's Academy have journeyed beyond Europe this season, following the
Development Squad’s involvement alongside QPR FC Women at the Singapore Soccer7sSeries in
July.
“It’s always an exciting experience taking our Academy players abroad,” said Will Lambert,
QPR’s Assistant Academy Director.
“The opportunity to benchmark against international opposition, oppose different styles and soak
up new cultures is an impactful part of the development journey for our young R’s.
“After a pre-season trip to Asia, and now a first visit to Africa, we are looking forward to the next
trip overseas to showcase the best of west London."
Welcome back, boys!'
