Well done to them. From the Club...
'ALL three of QPR’s contingent at the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup caught the eye during a
dramatic second round of matches.
Tylon Smith shone as South Africa secured their first victory of the tournament on Thursday night.
Following defeat to France in their Group E opener, the Amajita fired five past debutants New Caledonia
without reply to keep their hopes of progressing alive.
Smith’s shutout at the back enabled team-mates Siviwe Nkwali, Shakeel April, Siviwe Magidigidi (2) and
Lazola Maku to do the damage at the other end.
The young R’s defender once again played the full 90 minutes in Rancagua, keeping a clean sheet while
also impressing on the ball – finishing with 96% passing accuracy.
Twenty-four hours earlier, Daniel Bennie and Jaylan Pearman had also performed starring roles despite
Australia’s agonising defeat to Argentina.
The young Socceroos trailed 2-0 when the pair combined to halve the deficit; Bennie reaching Pearman’s
pass to open the Aussies’ account in Chile.
Sadly for the duo, two stoppage-time strikes saw the Argentines run out 4-1 winners.
Australia come up against Cuba in their final Group D game on Saturday night (midnight BST), while
South Africa face a Group E decider against USA on Sunday (9pm BST).
You can see our young R’s in action at the U20 World Cup live on FIFA+ and FIFA’s official YouTube channel.'
