substitute Oluwabusola finding the back of the net just a minute after coming onto the

The QPR U21 team commenced their defence of the Premier League Cup trophy with an
emphatic and deserved 3-1 victory over Stockport County at Edgeley Park.

After a first 20 minutes of stalemate the R's stepped up a gear and proceeded to miss two
really good chances in ultra quick succession before opening the scoring with a fierce shot from
outside the box by Coomes. His effort squirmed out of the keepers hands and was adjudged to
have crossed the goal line by an on the spot linesman. Who needs VAR? ;)

There was no further score for the rest of the first half and in the interval dressing room I am sure
the Rangers players and management team must have been wondering why they were not further
ahead.

At the start of the second half the QPR dominance continued and Izak made it 2-0 with a slightly
deflected close range finish. The bar was hit and there were other opportunities to pull further ahead
which were not taken.

Then with 25 minutes left completely against the run of events Stockport pulled a goal back with a
rare attack forced in via a crowded penalty area. I thought this was perhaps a little slack on our part
and the ball should have been cleared.

Rangers though were determined that this was not going to be the start of an opposition fightback and
following some further misses and good saves by the Stockport keeper sub Gabriel made it 3-1 in the
83rd minute originating from a back pass error.

A good win indeed but never the less I reckon tougher challenges lay ahead in this group stage of the
tournament. We shall see.

Att. 250 Approximate. No team sheets printed for the spectators :o Poor Admin :!:

I have been informed that there was a free "programme type format" editorial available
instead of team sheets.

Never told by the Box office and Stewards or saw any of this available on the night.

My Stockport County friend has stated that these type of arrangements would
be usually facilitated online beforehand.

I intend to contact the ground to see if I can get copies. I will let you all know as soon as
possible

I telephoned the Stockport County Club shop this afternoon and a very helpful woman
said she had 2 programmes left on the premises and promised to post them on to me
free of charge today.

I could not get the woman to accept any payment for admin and postage because the items
were free sale.

She also stated that this programme was "General" and there would be no specific list of the
players turning out on the night.

I am not surprised at that because like I suspected this item is mainly purchased online beforehand.

Fingers crossed that they turn up.....and that Chris Hewitt has not snapped them up earlier on during
the day :!:
