Nardi

Post by ESSEXURs »

We saw the best and awful side of him last night. Some good saves especially the penalty but
his positioning for most crosses and the goals left much to be desired. With two young centre backs in
front of him it required him to command his area to help them.

He is very reluctant to leave his line and relies on his centre backs to clear crosses. If they miss the cross he has no chance.
I got the feeling that the centre backs were used to having a goalkeeper behind them who was not afraid to claim crosses.

The signing of a new goalkeeper is imperative before the transfer window closes, Nardi
appears to be surplus to requirements with Stephan. Walsh has looked indecisive and vulnerable to
me and doesn’t inspire confidence, so the need for a new keeper has become a priority in my opinion.

Disappointing weakness not to deal with crosses when the shot stopping is of a high standard.

We will be lucky to find same calibre of shot stopper.

Is the goal area control not something that should be a priority and improved with goalkeeping
coach focus?

Can't just be a case of doesn't do crosses. There must be coach instructions backed up with guidance.

Despite doubts over Nardi I still prefer him over Walsh.

Walsh can't make the saves that Nardi does
