No guesses in over 3 hours, so may as well knock this one on its head.

I have been thinking about this but with a huge potential its hard to come up with a good answer.

My very wild guess is Stan Bowles and Johnny Byrne?

At last, someone's had a go!
Sorry Steve, it was Terry Venables & Les Allen.

Sorry Steve ( & Young Kerrins), but all answers have to be submitted online.
And I'm afraid the Judge's decision is final.

Just as a matter of interest I only got the correct answer to this because I remember reading a book some time ago that in the 1950s a group of up and coming footballers like Allen Venables Moore Allison Brown Greaves and others used to meet up in some cafe in East London. A popular venue at the time.

So based on that info I took a punt on the correct answer. Sorry a bit of a cheat really

Was the street in Dagenham by the way?

Yes, think it was in Dagenham. Got that fact from Venables' autobiog, he went along that street & named 5 or 6 other pro footballers who lived there, or just around the corner.
A huge number of footballers of that era - 50's to 70's - came from that area, including Alf Ramsey & Rodney Marsh.
