Report from the Offy site...

QPR U18s were edged out in a nine-goal thriller by Birmingham City in Professional Development League 2 South on Saturday.

Fresh from their 4-0 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday a week previous, Paul Furlong’s R’s headed to the west midlands in confident mood and they started the game in the perfect fashion when new signing Sinclair Armstrong broke the deadlock on seven minutes.

The goal made in two in two games for Armstrong – who recently joined Rangers from Shamrock Rovers – but efforts in the 27th, 28th and 33rd minutes then saw Blues turn the game around.

An own goal seven minutes before half-time brought QPR back into contention and two minutes after the restart a Trialist brought Rangers level.

It got better for the visitors on 50 minutes as the same Trialist fired them into the lead and, heading into the final quarter of an hour, it looked as if the R’s would return south with some points to show for their efforts.

However, there was to be a cruel, quickfire twist as on 78 and 79 minutes Birmingham struck twice to make it 5-4, which is how the scoring remained.

QPR U18s: Salamon, E Anthony, Siqueira, Paiva, Bagan, Sacopon (M Anthony 60), Murphy, Cotter (Obeng 60), Drozd, Eze, Armstrong.

Subs (not used): Middlehurst.
