Great news from the Wednesday website.....

The Owls Under-18s were comfortably defeated at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, going down 4-0 in the capital.

It could have been a different story for the Owls youngsters, who were left to rue missed chances early in the contest.

Luke Hall had the best of them for the visitors, but after running through on goal, one-v-one with the keeper, the midfielder opted to pick out Alex Bonnington rather than have a go at goal and overhit the pass.

Luke Yates nodded wide from a corner unmarked midway through the first half and then Wednesday found themselves a goal down ten minutes before the break.

Despite a close-fought first half, the game got away from our youth team after the break, with QPR scoring three times to seal the points.

A difficult day for the Wednesday youth team, who host Colchester on Monday at Middlewood Road.

And now this from the Club....

QPR U18s earned their first victory of the season by thrashing Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 at Heston on Saturday.

Having endured a difficult start to their new Professional Development League 2 South campaign, the R’s bounced back in fine style at the weekend by firing four unanswered goals past the Owls.

Rangers made the breakthrough on 33 minutes at the weekend when winger Micah Anthony found the net and they held that lead heading into half-time.

New signing Sinclair Armstrong – a recent addition from Irish club Cork City – doubled the R’s advantage on 49 minutes and a Trialist then made it three just after the hour mark.

Chimaechi Eze – brother of former Rangers star Ebere – added further gloss to the scoreline by making it 4-0 on 71 minutes and that is how the scoring remained as Paul Furlong’s team picked up maximum points.

QPR U18s: Salamon, E Anthony (Siqueira 63), Jude-Boyd, Paiva, Bagan, Hamid, Hayes (Cotter 63), M Anthony, Trialist, Eze, Armstrong (Visa 67).
