Report from the Club website...

QPR U18s were beaten by a very good Colchester United side at a windy Heston.

The visitors started very fast and were nearly ahead inside 30 seconds but for a goal-line clearance from captain Junior Paiva. United continued their strong start with a few early crosses inside 10 minutes, calling Matteo Salamon into action as he came out and punched them to safety.

Alex Aoraha made a darting run through the centre of midfield for the R’s, beating a couple of defenders and played in Chima Eze whose left footed shot went just past the post.

With 17 minutes on the clock United took the lead through Tom Stagg, who received the ball on the edge of the box and curled a left footed shot into the far corner, giving Salamon no chance.

Colchester nearly doubled their lead but Salamon made a very good double save to deny them and keep the score at 1-0.

The R’s started the second half really well. Adam Dougui had a couple of chances cutting inside from the left but he fired one over the bar and the other straight at the keeper.

On 57 minutes Colchester doubled their lead, against the run of play, after they were awarded a penalty which Stagg slotted under Salamon into the bottom left corner.

The U’s extended their lead further with 66 minutes on the clock through Harvey Sayer who had a tap in from 6 yards after Samson Tovide ran down the right hand side before putting in a low and hard cross.

United continued their dominance of the game with a long ball over the top which went through to Tovide. He tried to go around Salamon in the Rangers net but the R’s stopper stuck out a strong arm and the ball then fell to an on rushing Stagg whose shot was blocked well by Henry Hawkins.

The R’s then played some lovely football down the left hand-side between Micah Anthony, Harrison Murphy and Dougui whose shot at the end of the move was just wide.

Colchester looked to add a fourth but Salamon made some excellent saves to deny them and keep the score at 3-0, which is how the game finished.

Starting XI: Salamon, Paiva, Trialist (Obeng 30), Hayes, Trialist, Hawkins, Anthony, Aoraha (Trialist 60), Eze (Sacopon 60), Murphy, Dougui.
Subs (Not used): Little.
