0-5 Defeat for the U18's at Swansea...

Post by Steve Russell »

From the Swansea site...

Swansea City Under-18s thumped QPR 5-0 in the Professional Development League to claim a first win of 2022.

Two goals for Kyrell Wilson, as well as strikes from Geoff Bony, Iwan Morgan and debutant Corey Hurford claimed three points for the Swans.

The win extends the Under-18s' unbeaten run to three games as well as giving Darren Davies his first win since taking over.

The Swans came straight out of the blocks as Kyrell Wilson opened the scoring after just five minutes, breaking down the right before firing past the goalkeeper from close range.

Geoff Bony doubled the lead for the home side ten minutes before the break as he found space down the right before sliding the ball past the goalkeeper.

Iwan Morgan got involved in the action as he marked his birthday with a goal. Josh Carey slid a great ball through for Morgan who finished well from close range with the last kick of the first half, making it three goals in three games in 2022.

The hosts' onslaught continued into the second half as Wilson picked up his second goal of the afternoon, firing a powerful shot from the edge of the box to make it four.

Bony came close to making it five, as Corey Hurford found the forward with a low ball but his shot was well held by the goalkeeper.

But it would be Hurford who would find the fifth, the wing back making a fantastic run through the QPR defence before a tackle rebounded off his leg and into the back of the net.

The win sees the Swans leapfrog QPR in the Professional Development League South group as Darren Davies picked up a first win as Under-18s manager.

And from our website...

RANGERS’ Under-18s were well beaten by Swansea City in this Professional Development League Two South clash on Saturday morning.

Goals from Kyrell Wilson (two), Geoff Bony, Iwan Morgan and Corey Hurford did the damage at the Swans’ Landore Training Ground.

Micah Hyde’s side were behind after only five minutes in South Wales, Wilson scoring his first goal, before Bony’s 35th-minute attempt gave the R’s even more work to do.

Rangers couldn’t recover thereafter. Morgan struck on the stroke of half-time to make it 3-0, before further goals from Wilson (55 minutes) and Hurford (71) completed the rout for the hosts - who jumped above QPR in the table in the process.

Our Under-18s are back in league action this coming Saturday when they welcome Watford to Heston - kick-off 11am.

QPR: Cant, E. Anthony (McDonald 78), Harrack, Hawkins, Bagan, Cotter (Sackey 72), Hamid (Castillo 68), Sacopon, Murphy,
