2-1 Win for the U18's Today..

Post by Steve Russell »

Chris's ex report appeared on our Facebook group page......

The under 18s played their first league game of the season today at Heston.
Birmingham City were the visitors for a 12 noon kick off. Brum started the brighter
and were causing us a few problems at the back in the first 25-30 minutes.

Keeper Harry Cant was called upon three times to keep the score level in that period.
Rangers then started to make some headway in the other part of the pitch but the Blues
then took the lead when our keeper made two decent saves but the No9 was left unmarked
to tap into an empty net.

Both keepers then made saves at each end before QPR captain
Samuel Sackey popped up with an equaliser just before the break.

Picking the ball up in space some thirty yards out, he strode forward , eluded a challenge
and picked his spot in the bottom left hand corner. HT 1-1.

Second half, we made some changes , not with subs but with players being swapped around.
The new formation then tore into City and were getting on top and City’s keeper made another save.

Then on 50 minutes Sackey attacked the box and was brought down on the edge of the box by Brums No2.

The referee then harshly sent the defender off I guess as he was the last defender.
Rangers then turned it on for ten minutes and really made their defence work hard.

But we then went off the boil for about 10-15 minutes but in the last 15 minutes w upped the
pressure once again with the ball permanently in Birminghams half of the pitch.

We then managed to take the lead with fellow fan Chris Beattie rightly describing it as ‘the
best goal we will see this weekend’.

Lorent Talla had the ball by the corner flag and attacked the box along the byline.
He was closed down and nothing looked possible when he suddenly nutmegged his marker,
on the byline remember, skipped around him and then buried his left footed shot into the far
corner under the keepers dive.

We then saw out the remaining ten minutes or so to clinch a great start to the season .
FT 2-1.
