Re: Glen Kamara
Just having a read Bill...
From the Club....
'GLEN Kamara has joined QPR on a season-long loan deal.
The 30-year-old midfielder arrives from French Ligue 1 side Rennes.
“I'm excited to be at QPR,” he said.
“When I spoke to the CEO at the club, he really sold the project to me.
“Obviously being from West London myself, I'm just delighted to get it done.”
Kamara, who was born in Finland but moved to Ladbroke Grove when he was 12,
began his youth career with Southend before joining Arsenal at the age of 17.
He enjoyed subsequent loan spells with the Shrimpers and Colchester United before
making his Gunners debut in the EFL Cup in October 2015, one day before his 20th
birthday.
An 18-month spell with Dundee followed before Glasgow Rangers came calling in January
2019 – and it was at Ibrox that Kamara really made a name for himself.
He helped them win the title in 2020/21 and the Scottish Cup in 2021/22, while they also
reached the final of the Europa League that same year.
Three years ago, Kamara joined Leeds United in the Championship and was a regular in the
heart of their midfield as they finished third in the table, and reached the play-off final.
After one year at Elland Road, Kamara joined Julien Stéphan’s Rennes.
“We didn't work for that long but I'm looking forward to working with him,” Kamara said.
“I know what kind of a coach he is, and hopefully he can get the best out of me.”
Having grown up locally, Kamara has a lot of QPR supporters amongst his friendship group, and
he admitted: “I haven't told everyone yet because I've got to keep it quiet but I've got one really
crazy QPR fan who can't wait - he's already texted me.”
Having already had a year in the Championship recently, Kamara hopes he can add additional
experience to the R’s group.
“It's a division I've played in, a division I know,” he said.
“Unfortunately we didn't make it to the Prem that season but hopefully I can help QPR do that, and
we can push for promotion.”
Describing his strengths, Kamara, was has won 70 caps for Finland, explained: “I'm a player who likes
to get on the ball, dictate play, make short, fast passes and find my players who can affect the game
the most.
“I just try to dictate the play as much as I can.”
Kamara will be looking to do that at a stadium he doesn’t have fond memories of, adding: “We lost 4-0
when I played for Leeds there!
“Hopefully I can have better memories for myself and the team.”
CEO Christian Nourry said: “It is great to bring about a second west London homecoming this transfer
window with the arrival of Glen.
“Glen has all the qualities to enhance our options in midfield as well as add some further bite and nous
to the middle of the park. We thank Glen for his trust in QPR being the right option for him despite significant
other Championship interest.”

Re: Glen Kamara
