Performance and Team - Both weak as piss

Post by Tommy Cunningham »

What a gutless and spineless way to end another poor season, woeful all over the park
and once again the team selection by the manager had me baffled yet again.

Now I am not a fan of Joe Walsh, but today he pulled off some good saves to keep the
score respectable. Well done Joe Walsh.

We had full backs in Norrington-Davies and Mbengue, who were tortured throughout by
Ipswich’s wide players.

Mbengue is definitely up there with the worst ever players to wear the blue and white hoops
of QPR, a truly awful footballer who just cannot play right back
but it appears nobody has bothered to tell Julien Stephan.

Clarke-Salter and Edwards are supposed to be central defenders, they lost aerial duels all
afternoon and were both as weak as piss in any 50/50 challenges they faced.

Ronnie Edwards thinking he was Messi on the edge of our box for their third goal, was
embarrassing and this guy is an absolute liability for me. Strange how Southampton climbed
up the league once he departed.

How many years have we now been watching Ilias Chair wasting dead ball situations, the only
time he doesn’t waste any is when he’s in the treatment room. Ilias Chair should be nowhere a
any dead ball situations for us, his corners and free kicks are awful and nothing ever comes from
them.

Varane was lazy and disinterested, Morgan and Bennie were just out of their depth. Vale and
Madsen were just anonymous.

Smyth did try and get forward and make something happen when he came on.

As a football club I think we are a shambles and change is needed from top to bottom, recruitment
has been shocking whether it’s been management, coaching or players.

The owners need to show more interest and show more respect to the supporters.

Yes Tommy unless we completely sort out the managerial and support staff we will have yet
another season like this.

Steve Bould our defensive coach (73 conceded) should be charged under the Trade Descriptions
Act. A joke of an appointment that showed no improvement in our defensive abilities as the season
progressed.

With no Combination League you have no natural progression from Development Squad to the first
team and our promising young players need a season or two in the lower leagues toughening them
up with the more experienced battle hardened brigade.

We seem for some seasons to employ players at fullback who are not true defenders and much happier
going forward so exposing our central defenders.

Surely we can find some true fullbacks and similarly a midfield general to patrol the central area and
also cover the back four. Lost count of goals conceded from just outside the area with opposition
players running on to balls with no challenge.

Walsh is not consistent and looks slow to react to situations. There might be a goalkeeper in him but
you need to have a keeper performing all the time and commanding his area.

Most tv commentators are aware of our goalkeeper weaknesses to crosses no matter who is in goal so
why are our management not aware of it and acting accordingly?

Hopefully the close season will see us have our forward line fully fit for next season.

Kone and Burrell proved they can get goals. If the inevitable injuries arise we really need to address
this area before it is too late next season.
An interesting few weeks to follow.

Tommy,

Hi and thank's for another great post.

The saying 'A Fish Rots From The Head Down' has never been more appropriate
than to describe QPR at this moment.

Nourry, Hoos, Stephan, Williams and Bould should all be be sacked ASAP.

We cannot waste another pre-season contemplating our navels, firm action needs
to be taken now, otherwise League 1 beckons and it won't be pretty.

At some point our luck will run out and we will be relegated!

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your kind words mate, my passion for QPR will never die.

Another dire season has ended where out of 23 home league games we lost 10 games, if this
is acceptable to Nourry, Hoos Stephan and the rest of the freeloaders at QPR then we are
wasting our time.

Surely these people have their performances reviewed annually, because they have failed
miserably again and I have seen no progress whatsoever.

Our club is not in a good place and these people are responsible.

The one thing that really gets me at QPR is the recruitment of players, we have signed so
much dross that I really have to question the ability, knowledge, experience and the football
nouse of the individuals responsible for recruitment.

Our recent history shows us signing injured players, how have these players passed medicals
to sign contracts at QPR. It’s easy to understand now why we have a horrendous injury list,
players don’t miss the odd game they are out for weeks and months and you do wonder how
good the medical team at QPR are.

The most encouraging thing I have read recently regarding Julien Stephan, was that he was
being touted for a return to France with a French club. The most uninspiring manager I can
remember at QPR, hopefully there might be some truth in this report.

If he does depart he won’t be missed.
