Palace 1938: Special Transport Facilities for 3,000 R's Fans has....

The following article appeared in the West London Observer the day before the 1st Round FA Cup
tie at Selhurst Park on 26th November 1938:
‘Special transport facilities for 3,000 members of the Queen’s Park Rangers Supporters’ Club have
been arranged by the L.M.S. Railway for the Crystal Palace v QPR Cup-tie at Selhurst Park tomorrow
(Saturday).
This is the biggest transportation ever undertaken by the Supporters’ Club.
Two trains have been commissioned and a third will be in readiness if required.
The trains leave Willesden Junction at 11.47 and 12 o’clock; St. Quintin’s at 11.51 and 12.4, and
Uxbridge Road at 11.55 and 12.8.
They arrive at Selhurst at 12.23 and 12.35 respectively, and make the return journey at 4.20 and 4.29.
The return fare is 1s 4d.
The Mayor of Hammersmith (Alderman W. H. Church. J.P., L.C.C.) has accepted an invitation from the
Committee of the Supporters’ Club to see the match.’
A crowd of 33,276, swelled by Rangers’ large travelling support, witnessed a 1-1 draw, Tommy Cheetham
scored the R’s goal.
Rangers went on to win the replay 3-0 two days later, with two further goals from Tommy Cheetham and
a penalty from Wilf Bott.
