Good luck to them....
THREE young R’s are in Chile for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Daniel Bennie and Jaylan Pearman are in Australia’s 22-man squad while Tylon Smith has
travelled to South America with South Africa.
The 24-team tournament kicks off on Saturday (27th September), with the final showdown
marked for Monday 20th October.
Only four QPR players have previously competed in the competition.
Current midfielder Alex Aoraha was the most recent – representing Iraq in 2023.
Prior to that, English trio Bradley Allen (1991), Steven Scott (1985) and Ian Muir (1981) were
the only other R’s to have been called up.
Bennie and Pearman’s Australia are drawn in Group D alongside six-time winners Argentina,
Cuba and Italy while Smith’s South Africa face France, New Caledonia and USA in Group E.
Australia get started on Sunday against Italy while South Africa take on France in their opener
24 hours later.
