Michael Frey Agrees a New Contract...

Post by Steve Russell »

Good news from the Club...

'MICHAEL Frey has agreed a new contract with QPR.
The 31-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a new deal after the club initially triggered a
contract extension at the end of last season.

Frey joined the R’s from Royal Antwerp in January 2024. To date, he has played 41 times for us
in all competitions, scoring 10 goals.

The Swiss forward was the club’s top scorer in 2024/25, netting nine times.

Michi said: “I feel very good, I feel happiness. I feel like this is home, it's like family now.”

Reflecting on his time to date with the R’s, Frey explained: “There have been tough times, fighting
relegation, but also we have had very, very good days, beautiful days where we played very nice football.

“We have stayed two seasons in the league and now this season, maybe we want to have a bit more, but
we have to work very hard for it.”

The powerful Frey has had no trouble adapting to the physicality of English football, with his commanding
presence proving to be a constant challenge for Championship defenders. He admits he enjoys that side
of the game.

“I like it, it is all part of it - and you have to be ready for it,” he said with a smile.

“To score goals and to help the team in this league, you have to be physically ready, and fight with the
defence.”

Frey also added he has enjoyed working with head coach Julien Stéphan so far.

“It's exciting when a new coach comes,” he said. “We see his ideas and we try to follow as good as possible.

“There is intensity in the training and I really hope we can do good things. The aim this season is not to be
fighting relegation, it's to be at the better end of the table.”

CEO Christian Nourry said: "We are happy to renew our commitment to Michi.

“In his time at QPR, he has acclimatised to the rigours of the Championship, finishing the 2024/25 campaign
as our top scorer in all competitions.

“His battling qualities, big heart, aerial ability and relentless pursuit of improving and bettering himself and
others on the pitch will be in evidence again in the coming weeks and months.”

Good news. Wonder if he can score at an improved rate under the Stephane reign.
