From the Club..
QPR Development Squad played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Peterborough United Under-21s
on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite trailing by two goals at the break, second-half strikes from Emmerson Sutton (55 minutes) and
Jake Coomes (81) would ensure the points were shared at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground.
Both sides start brightly. Rangers' Teddy Tarbotton threatened on 18 minutes, with his wicked effort denied
by Bastian Smith in the Posh goal.
However, Peterborugh would take the lead on 22 minutes - Davon Gbajumo driving at the Rangers backline
before Matthew Garbett eventually placed his effort into the top left corner.
As we headed into the closing stages of the first half, it was the hosts who doubled their advantage.
Lucca Mendonca freed up space for Bolu Shofowoke who in turn found Joe Davies to slot the ball past
Joel Halliday in the Rangers goal.
But the Super Hoops started the second half strongly, with Sutton eventually converting from close range
on 55 minutes to halve the deficit and give the R’s something to build on.
Having already broken the deadlock, Sutton would continue to trouble on the hour mark, this time forcing
Smith into a fine save.
And with momentum certainly with Rangers, Coomes’ right-footed strike from the edge of the box would
finally be our equaliser on 81 minutes.
Both sides pushed for a winner, but the points would ultimately be shared.
QPR Dev Squad return to action on Tuesday, 26th August, facing Fleetwood Town U21s.
QPR XI: Halliday, Putman, Wilkie, Akindileni, Adjetey-Brew, Dyke, Tarbotton, Trialist A, Brunson, Sutton, Dillon.
Subs: Taylor, Trialist B, Coomes, O’Brien, Neill.
