3-1 Win for the Development Squad at Hanwell...

Post by Steve Russell »

Team: Salamon, Manufor, Putman, McDowell, trialist, Radojevic,
Petrie, Hamid, Strachan, Sutton, Coomes

Strachan scored our 1st goaL & Hanwell equalised near the end of the
1st half.

4 subs after the break, Hamid I think gave us the lead on 53 mins

Sub No.17 took his goal well for number 3

We had by the best of the 2nd half but Salamon was on hand to make
a couple of good saves.

FT:3-1

Report from the Club...

'PAUL Furlong’s youthful R’s side recorded their first pre-season victory on Tuesday, convincingly
overcoming Hanwell Town 3-1.

Our Development Squad delivered an impressive performance at the Powerday Stadium, with goals from Under-18 stars
Lorenzo Strachan, Hassan Hamid and Ridwan Hassan securing the win in the warm conditions.

The Super Hoops started positively, moving the ball well and minimising the opposition’s threat.
The best chance for Hanwell to break the deadlock was directly from a free-kick, but it was excellently matched
by R’s goalkeeper Matteo Salamon against his former loan side.

With 32 minutes played, Rangers opened the scoring through Strachan. Emmerson Sutton’s spirited pressing earned
the goal, as he seized upon a sloppy back pass. After a challenge on the home’ keeper, the ball fell kindly to Strachan
to stroke the ball into the bottom right corner.

The opener struck confidence into Furlong’s team. Just two minutes after the restart, Jake Coomes burst down the
left wing – eliminating two defenders with his pace – and squared the ball to Sutton, who finessed his shot inches wide
of the post.

However, the lead was short-lived as a Hanwell Town trialist dispatched a sweet volley into the bottom right corner in the
41st minute, to send the teams into the half-time break level.

Just 10 minutes into the second period, QPR regained the lead. Hamid scored undoubtedly the goal of the game, unleashing
a scorching effort from 35-yards out that arrowed into the top left corner.

The home side fought back, almost equalising again with a long-range effort themselves with 20 minutes to play.
After space opened up on the edge of the QPR box, a trialist’s effort fizzed past Salamon’s near post.

Then, just eight minutes from full-time, explosive frontman Hassan wrapped up the result for Rangers, dribbling around
the goalkeeper and tucking the ball into an empty net, completing a clinical counter attack.

In the 84th minute, Sutton, who put in a fantastic midfield display, almost made it 4-1. He latched on to a long ball, looped
it over the goalkeeper but narrowly missed the target.

QPR moved the ball around confidently in the closing stages to seal a sound 3-1 victory in the capital.

Furlong will be taking note of some glowing performances from a youthful side and will hope to carry this form into the
Dev Squad’s final pre-season fixture, as we travel to Waltham Abbey next Tuesday.

The Dev Squad’s next home fixture is against Coventry City U21s to kick off the new Professional Development League
Two campaign.

QPR: Salamon, Manufor (Friel 46), Trialist, McDowell (Skeete 46), Putman, Radojevic, Hamid (Tarbotton 60),
Sutton, Coomes, Petrie (Sanyaolu 54) Strachan (Hassan 46).'
