Cardiff game

Post by ESSEXURs »

Followed it but didn’t watch but yet another awful performance against lowly opposition and it doesn’t matter how well we played in the first half. It’s how you see out a match that counts.
I’m convinced something has gone on behind the scenes as we are far from the team we were and at this rate we will finish mid table.
If the team was in reach of the promised land why would you not wish to give 100% every match?
Warburton accuses them of complacency. If so why would they be complacent having thrown away a top two position a few weeks ago?
Has he lost the team? Have the recent additions unsettled the squad?
I can only see more grief in most of the remaining fixtures and 7 out of 11 are away.

As in so many games this season we had the majority of the possession (72% yesterday) but too few efforts on target (3 yesterday)
Yes we dominated the 1st half, yes the ref was poor, but why the lack of penetration after the break as we continued to
just stroke the ball around, even after they equalised :?:

Down to one striker but two from the U23's have disappeared (Sean Adarkwa & Marco Ramkilde) ???

Tactically we are so predictable  Teams know in advance too easily how to play against us

Some of the players looked frustrated, some finger-pointing going on.

MW said after the game: "We lost it by dropping the tempo and playing at a testimonial pace after 50 minutes.
"We were dominant in the first half, got the goal, should have got the second and all we had to do was maintain our tempo."

Uncle Albert came on too late & wasn't therefore effective.

Lack of leadership on the pitch & why can't MW at least adjust things during a game?

Someone suggested today that he thought that Chris Willock doesn't look match fit :?:

Would like us to go four at the back, play Albert as an out & out winger etc etc

Taxi for the Breadman.

Has taken this team as far as he can, and his (tactical and recruitment) limitations have finally been exposed.

Sums the game up well.
There was one spell in the 1st half - around the 12 mins mark - where we put a good 20, 25 passes together.
We were spraying it around like the Rangers of old. Cardiff never got a sniff of the ball.
But we did absolutely nothing with it....nice to watch, but ultimately pointless. As indeed we were.
Even with 10 mins to go, and a point to play for, we were still passing it sideways rather than up the field.

Steve 881,

I apologise if my comments seem so negative, but it is solely down to frustration at the way Warburton seems unable (or won't) alter his tactics during games.

I honestly feel that Warburton has completely run out of ideas, but having said that, does he listen to John Eustace and his coaching staff for advice?

All this is clearly impacting on to the players, hence the below par performances.

No need to apologise Bill, we're entitled to have a go when the performance is bad.
And, no 2 ways about it - it was.
They seemed to treat it as if it was a training game - no urgency to get forward,
let alone (perish the thought) score a goal.

Don't apologise Bill.

I always try & balance my views but it clearly hasn't been working for some time,
he is set in his ways & refuses to be adaptable.

Someone else suggested yesterday that he thought that he has taken us as far as he can.

West Brom have been on a three month slump and we appear to be heading the same way :!:

This should not be happening...but it is.

That Steve R, what is he like!?
I bet he was one of the NPs who had a look at my "PM for Essex ONLY" fred! :P
Mind you, the only enjoyment he had on Saturday was when I told him that joke* before the game -
after that, it was downhill all the way.
