From the Club...
'On Wednesday night, QPR will remember the great Stan Bowles when we host West Bromwich Albion
at MATRADE Loftus Road.
Bowles, arguably our finest ever player, passed away on Saturday 24th February at the age of 75 following
a long period living with Alzheimer’s.
Our fixture against the Baggies is our first in W12 since the sad news, and we will be paying tribute to ‘Stan the Man’
in the following ways:
The QPR players will be wearing ‘Bowles 10’ shirts when they come out of the tunnel instead of their usual
walk-out jackets
A fan mosaic will be on show the entire length of the Stanley Bowles Stand, with the wording ‘Bowles 10’
We will be joined by the following members of our famous 1975/76 side, who shared a pitch with Bowles:
Ron Abbott, Gerry Francis, Ian Gillard, Frank McLintock, Phil Nutt, Don Shanks and Dave Thomas
We are also honoured to be joined by Bowles’ son Carl and two of his grandchildren
Shanks, Bowles’ close friend, will join Carl in laying a wreath on the centre circle just before kick off
There will follow a period of applause as the stadium remembers the great Stan Bowles.
The QPR players’ home shirts will carry an Alzheimer’s Society logo. These will be auctioned with all funds raised
donated to Alzheimer’s Society
At half-time, the 75/76 heroes will join us on the pitch and we will hear from Francis and Shanks on behalf of the group
It is sure to be a very emotional occasion as we remember a true QPR legend.
Gone, but never, ever to be forgotten.'
