AFC Bournemouth Yesterday.....

Post by Steve Russell »

Bumped into Tommy Collins on the 237 from Chiswick, good to
see him again.

Met up with my mate Alan Nolan in the Crown & Sceptre, one of many
Irish R's in there pre-match.

What a 1st half, wild celebrations following Sinclair's excellent strike.
Then even wilder when Lyndon's deflected goal went in :D

But it wasn't to last very long as they stepped up a gear & we stepped back.
After the impressive display at Ipswich, we have since reverted again to
slowly trying to play it out from the back.

Begovic did make an excellent double save but he was badly at fault with one
of the goals! Until I watched it back I thought it had gone straight in
from the corner.

His distribution was poor at times & there was an odd occasion when there
were 2 balls on the pitch. While one was in play & he advanced to tap the other
one forward?

Don't remember one Rangers corner during the whole game?

Why bring Raff Pedder on 88 mins? Was hoping that he would get much longer
game time :( Lorent Talla made his debut 8 mins earlier.

Attendance 10,725, including a big turnout from the visitors...

That loss has earned us an unenviable record - the most exits (53, I believe)
at this stage of the F.A. Cup.

Once Bournemouth sent on those "first teamer" subs at the start of the second half it was game over.
Knew it!

Lets face it if the visitors had treated this encounter as they would have done a premier league fixture
chances are we would have been blown away.

Great to see Sinclair scoring an excellent goal and Lyndon Dykes getting on the scoresheet.

Hopefully this will translate into confidence and improved attacking in our championship campaign.

Pity that we could not hold on to the lead. As you say, the Cherries’ subs changed the game but still
good to put two away ourselves.

Could have been different if we had 3/4 of our first choice players involved
Bernard, had we not sat deep 2nd half & Begovic's cock-up

Maybe Steve just maybe. We will never know.

Overall I am not too upset that we lost. It was not a disaster of a performance.
Hope springs eternal....however i do care about Clubs especially in the prem not treating
the early rounds of the Fa Cup with Respect.

No way on earth would Bournemouth have started with
that line up in a premier league fixture.

Yes Young Kerrins long gone are the days when FA Cup game had that magical feeling.
It gave lower league teams chance to play against first and second division teams with
the chance of an upset however remote.

It was a different feeling walking up to the ground on a Cup day whoever you were playing and fans
dressed for the occasion.
Simple and happier days!
