Politics
There's a lot of it going on at the moment.
Taken from yesterday's Daily Telegraph:
Abramovich spared Russia Sanctions
Premier League billionaires Roman Abramovich and Alisher Usmanov (Everton) last night escaped British sanctions as Boris Johnson froze hundreds of UK-based Russian assets, in retaliation for the invasion of Ukraine.
Calls had been made in Parliament for Abramovich to lose his ownership of Chelsea, with Labour MP Chris Bryant citing a document linking him with corrupt activity......Using Parliamentary Privilege, Bryant told MPs, "An example of this is Abramovich admitting in court proceedings that he paid for political influence.....this was nearly 3 years ago, and yet remarkably little has been done in retaliation. Surely Mr. Abramovich should no longer be able to own a football club in this country? Surely we should be looking at seizing some of his assets??"
Watch this space.......

From yesterday's Sunday Telegraph:
Abramovich hands over Chelsea to club charity
Roman Abramovich has dramatically relinquished the running of Chelsea in an attempt to distance the club from the controversy surrounding him as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine & calls for him to be sanctioned.*.......the move is likely to encourage interested groups and individuals to make takeover offers.....
* - Interestingly, one of the highest-profile people calling for the seizure of the assets of Russian oligarchs was Michael Gove, government minister & fan of a certain West London club.

Re: Politics
Heard on the radio today that RA may be forced to sell Scum FC.
Which is all well & good....but does he get to bank the cheque, or is the money embargoed???

Re: Politics
I reckon this is a ring fence strategy for Chelsea FC...but what do I know?

Re: Politics
It certainly looks like a publicity stunt so far, Bernard; he still owns the club, but has just passed day-to-day control over to this charitable trust. Not that he did anything, day-to-day, in the first place. Hasn't even seen them play in the UK for several years (since his UK Visa application was turned down).
Time to call up an RAF strike on the Bridge???

Breaking news......Abramovich puts CFC up for sale; 3 or 4 BILLION £££, depending on which story you read.
Let's hope all the uncertainty doesn't affect their performance on the pitch.......SATIRE

Re: Politics
Well, it's really hit the fan - remember, you read it here first-
this is all over t'interweb:
Roman Abramovich has finally been sanctioned by the UK government.
His assets have been frozen, including homes, planes,2 superyachts
AND Chelsea FC.
The scum will no longer be able to spend money on new transfers (or sell any players);
ticket sales arent allowed - so only current ST-holders will be allowed to go to games;
even the club shop has had to shut, as merchandise sales are banned;
and the club can only spend £500k on staging home games, and £20K on away travel -
which puts away games in Europe at serious risk.
I can see their fans waving buckets outside the Bridge

Re: Politics
CFC have 3 players out of contract at the end of the season -
Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicuta & Antonio Rudiger.
The transfer ban means they won't be able to sign replacements.

Re: Politics
The way I see it is.....If and when the club is sold the Govt will seize every penny of the proceeds. Then what?
Anyway its been well documented for many years that the money that flooded into Chelsea from the outset was in effect stolen from the coffers of the Russian people. That sort of thing would never have happened under Nikita Khrushchev
