Celebrity Deathwatch

Post by steveqpr881 »

A feature in which we say goodbye to famous people who have absolutely no connection to QPR.
R.I.P. Gary Brooker, lead singer of Procul Harem - Whiter Shade of Pale was their biggest hit.

Yes Steveqpr881. My neck of the woods. I lived at number 46 Askew Rd from 1952 to 1960.
Thereafter at nearby Ashchurch Park Villas from 1960 to 1974.

Steveqpr881. I knew Steve Russell's father in 1960 but did not get to know Steve R until 2004!

Steve's Father a local painter and decorator back in the day decorated our hallway when our family
moved in to Ashchurch Park Villas in 1960. He was a friend of one of my relatives and came highly recommended.

He did a brilliant job but shortly after the work was finished some scrawney 12 year old sprog put his dirty
finger marks all over the paintwork  ....Now I wonder who that could have been? ;)

In a bad week for drummers, we say goodbye to Alan White of prog-rockers Yes*
& Andy Fletcher of Depeche Mode.

(*- saw them in concert, back in the 70's, at Loftus Road.)

Steveqpr881. It would be nice to see you Saturday. Colin Steve R and myself plan to be in the
Eagle Pub Askew Rd pre match. Then probably a short chin wag with other supporters outside
the Main entrance in South Africa Rd about 2 O clock...ish

Surprised this hasn't already been posted, but R.I.P. John Motson.
Once, while commentating on a QPR match in the 90's said (of Simon Barker & Paul Parker) -
"Barker & Parker, what a tongue-twister!"
