'The Matrade Loftus Road Stadium....'

Post by Steve Russell »

News from the Club....

'QPR is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with MATRADE to become the naming rights
partner of Loftus Road Stadium.

The three-year deal with the Malaysian agency - who QPR co-owner Ruben Gnanalingam also sits on the
board of - will see the club’s stadium named MATRADE Loftus Road Stadium with immediate effect up to
and including the 2025/26 season.

MATRADE is a national trade promotion agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) to
develop and promote Malaysia’s export to the world.

QPR CEO Lee Hoos said: “We are delighted with this agreement.

“The club is always looking at ways to increase our portfolio of partners.

“This decision to render the naming rights of the stadium is made with the commercial interests of the club at
heart, and we look forward to working with MATRADE.”

Chairman of MATRADE, Reezal Merican Naina Merican added: “When I initiated the proposal for
MATRADE to rebrand itself after 30 years of its establishment, I saw that the new naming rights partnership was an
opportunity for MATRADE to elevate our brand visibility on the international scene.

“By leveraging QPR’s long-standing history in English football, MATRADE will be able to enhance its global
recognition as a trusted agency to connect trade between our two countries.

“We look forward to a successful partnership with QPR.”

Francis Peacock on our Indy's Facebook....

'I know its the way of the world these days, and inescapable in our current financial predicament,
but I don't like it. At least they're not a betting firm. I would have preferred another charitable
re-incarnation.

Having said that, I offered proceeds of QPR : The Road to '76 to The Kiyan Prince Foundation (twice!).
They promised to phone me back (twice!) and never did. Useless.'

So we can spend time sorting this out but not putting a half decent manager and coaching staff in place
to stop our downward spiral.
No mention of money!

Is this a way of bypassing FFP to inject money?

Unfortunately we have owners that are so out of their depth in professional football, that they don’t get the
emotional attachment we have with our club.

Clubs in this country are mostly owned by foreigners, who really have no idea about the history of the clubs they
invest in. Long gone are the days of the self made Jim Gregory ownership, instead we have owners we have never
heard of and we know nothing about.

Loftus Road is Loftus Road and always will be to me.

Who - ah say WHO, boy are Matrade????
Still, I suppose they'll be paying us a few bob for naming rights.......
but I will never refer to our stadium as 'the Matrade.'
