Loan Rangers...

Post by Steve Russell »

News from the Club...

'Three of our Loan Rangers featured for their respective clubs over the past week.
Goalkeeper Murphy Mahoney continues to impress for Swindon Town, while Joe Gubbins and
Rafferty Pedder returned for their teams.

Mahoney played the full 90 minutes for Swindon on both Saturday and Tuesday, initially featuring i
n their 2-2 away draw with Salford City.

On Tuesday evening, the Robins suffered defeat to Gillingham at the County Ground – Connor Mahoney’s strike
the difference on the night.

Elsewhere in League Two, defender Gubbins helped his Accrington Stanley side to victory, with Shaun Whalley’s
31st-minute effort enough to take victory over Gillingham.

Gubbins arrived in the 70th minute, replacing Jay Rich-Baghuelou in the Reds' backline. On Tuesday night,
Gubbins remained an unused substitute in Stanley’s emphatic 4-2 away victory over AFC Wimbledon.

In the National League, Pedder returned for Oxford City, playing 80 minutes for the Hoops in their 3-1 away
defeat to Bromley before featuring throughout on Tuesday evening in a 3-1 defeat to Wealdstone.

Trent Rendall missed out on both Eastleigh’s 3-1 victory over York City on Saturday and their 1-0 home

defeat to Woking on Tuesday evening through injury.

Youngster Teddy Lawrence completed a switch to Aveley on Saturday ahead of their clash with Truro City –
Lawrence was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw.

What’s to come?
In League Two, Swindon (Mahoney) travel to MK Dons, with Accrington (Gubbins) hosting Colchester United
this weekend.

In the National League, Eastleigh (Rendall) travel to Maidenhead United with Oxford City (Pedder) hosting

We seem to have even more players out on loan than Chelsea do.
If the idea is to give them a bit of match experience in the lower leagues,
so that they can be developed to the point where they're ready to play for us,
then is it time to bring any of them back?
The current squad could certainly do with bolstering, in every department.

In my view Teddy Lawrence should certainly NOT have been sent out on loan.
He is good enough to be groomed for our first team squad.
