Seven R’s Fans were injured on their way to the Watford Home Game in 1931

The following article appeared in the West London Observer on 25th September 1931:

‘Seven passengers in a van, on their way to watch Queen’s Park Rangers’ match on Saturday,
were injured when the van came into collision with a tramcar in High Road, Willesden.

The accident occurred when the van swerved to avoid a child. All the seven were taken to hospital,
but only two were detained.

They were Arthur Tomkins, 25, of Melville Road, Harlesden, who was detained at Park Royal Hospital
with concussion, and Frank Fry, 23, of Cooper Road, Willesden, who was taken to Willesden General Hospital
with a deep cut on the side of his head.

Both men were flung out of the van when the accident occurred. The van was badly damaged, but the
driver was uninjured.’

Rangers drew the match 4-4 against Watford at the White City Stadium. The legendary George Goddard
scored all the R’s goals.
