Opening game tomorrow night (Tuesday) v Chesham at the
Powerday Stadium. My report from last season....

QPR FC Women (6) – Chesham United Ladies (1)

FA Women’s National League Division One (South East)

Team: Francis-Pownall, Wardlaw, Searle, Johnson, Gunn, Lewin, Blodgett, Hennessy,
Stanley, Akerman, Petit

Rangers came into this match on the back of two away wins in the previous seven days, namely;
a 2-1 win at Chesham,which was followed by a cup victory against Penn in midweek.

On a warm, but overcast afternoon at the Powerday Stadium, the first opportunity fell to the R’s
when a great ball was knocked out to Ellie Searle, who sent over an excellent cross, which then
forced the United keeper into saving Katie Akerman’s header.

It was the away side who took the lead when DorianeSenmani Sani’s low-shot found the back of
the net.

Rangers equalised a few minutes later following a move down the right-flank. Ellie Searle’s ball into
the box found Kasha Petit and as she turned to pull the trigger, she was bundled over.
The R’s No.11 stepped up and made no mistake with her spot-kick.

A swift Chesham breakaway resulted in their No.17 firing the ball just over the crossbar.

Later, the same player, really should have given the Buckinghamshire side the lead after getting
one-on-one with the R’s keeper. But Mya Francis-Pownall stood firm and made the save.

Then, after Ellie-Searle had swept upfield, the R’s No.3’s lob just evaded the crossbar.

As the home side looked to take the lead, a good move involving Ellie Searle, Kasha Petit and
Ellen Wardlaw, resulted in the ball going safely behind.

The United No.17 had another good opportunity to score. After being pushed wide, her shot ended
up going just past the far post.

Rangers took the lead when Grace Stanley curled the ball, lowand beyond Lucia Delves.

The R’s striker scored another goal with a tap-in, after Kasha Petit had taken the ball close to
the bye-line.

A loose ball was knocked to Ellie Searle and the R’s wing-back’s close-range shot ended up going
behind for a corner.

Ellen Wardlaw notched up a fourth goal for the home side, when her effort took a slight bobble
before entering the net just the inside the far post. Half-time: 4-1.

Into the second-half and after Ellie Searle had set-up Grace Stanley, the R’s striker proceeded to
successfully knock the ball in from close-range.

At the other end, the Rangers keeper brought an opponent down in the box, the referee had no
hesitation pointing to the spot, but a late flag was raised, and it was therefore ruled out.

QPR scored a sixth goal when Ellie Searle’s cross/shot dipped suddenly and found its way inside the
far-upright.

On 66 minutes, Kasha Petit and Chloe Gunn made way for Brogan Moore and Frankie Webster respectively.

A through-ball found Katie Akerman and despite being under some pressure, she managed to get into a good
shooting position before seeing her strike bounce off the crossbar.

This was followed by Emilia Nygaard-Parsons being introduced at the expense of Grace Stanley.

Mya Francis-Pownall made an excellent save to deny the visitors a consolation goal, which she then followed
by diving and grabbing the ball.

QPR had two players booked late-on, when firstly, Emilia Nygaard-Parsons had committed a foul, which was
followed by Ellen Wardlaw being punished for kicking the ball away.

The final change saw Ailish Carolan coming on for Renee Johnson.
