Well done Don. From the Club...
WE ARE delighted to announce that former R’s defender Don Shanks recently completed the
New York City Marathon in memory of his former QPR team-mate, the late and great Stan Bowles.
At the age of 73, Shanks took on the 26-mile challenge to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society,
completing the gruelling run in a truly impressive 5 hours and 38 minutes.
Shanks played alongside Bowles in our celebrated side of 1975/76 and he continues to honour
his lifelong friend.
Bowles passed away in February 2024, having lived with Alzheimer’s for nine years.
Shanks also joined the QPR NYC supporters group in New York to watch our clash with
Ipswich Town.
From everyone here at QPR, a huge congratulations Don!
You can still show your support for Don, and continue to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s Society.'
