Injuries

Post by ESSEXURs »

I know it is a forbidden word!
I had high hopes we would have sorted things out for this season and got players fitter and less prone to injuries.

Unfortunately you know what hope does…we are probably in a worse position than last season with at least two
players per game being added to the list.
Half these injuries see to be non contact with players suddenly hitting the deck with nobody near them.
Are they battery powered?

Thinking back to the late fifties when I started watching the Rs I can’t remember key players being missing for games.
These were the times of ploughed field pitches and less player protection by referees.
Is it the modern hybrid pitches or lightweight boots adding to the problems or are players now overprotected and go
down at the slightest twinge.
Mystifying!

Good comment Essex.

I know in this modern day game the risk of injury is higher but at Loftus Rd for a while now I am
convinced we have reached the zenith! Why? All bad news!

I am not making this a big excuse for our managers tinkering which seems to come naturally to him
but it must play a part in his team selection when we have a few players who maybe wont last 90 mins
and some who can't play two games in four days :!:
