TARIQ Lamptey has joined QPR on a permanent basis.

The 25-year-old right-back has signed on a free transfer after leaving Serie A side Fiorentina.

Born locally in Hillingdon, Lamptey came through the ranks at Chelsea, making his Premier League
debut against Arsenal in 2019 before joining fellow top-flight side Brighton & Hove Albion in 2020.

He made more than 120 appearances for the Seagulls before his switch to Italy 12 months ago.

After putting pen to paper in W12, Lamptey said: “I'm excited for the opportunity ahead.

“When I spoke to the gaffer and Christian (Nourry), the project was an encouraging one.

“The team have ambitious goals for this season, so I'm looking forward to it.”

Lamptey had a number of options available to him but he admits he is relishing the opportunity
to work under Julien Stéphan, explaining: “He's worked with some great players who've gone
on to do great things in the game.

“His resume speaks for itself. He's a great coach, so I'm excited to work with him and learn from him.”

Lamptey – who represented Ghana at the 2022 World Cup and has 11 senior caps to date – is determined
to rediscover the form that made him such a hot property during his time on the south coast, adding:
“I know what I'm capable of and I set myself high standards.

“I had a great start to my career, and I'll keep continuing that.”

Lamptey sustained an ACL injury with Fiorentina last year. He is now well on the road to recovery and
anticipated to be available for selection in September.

He confirmed: “My recovery has gone well and I’m not too far away now. I’m looking forward to joining
with the boys. “Throughout my football journey I've always been resilient.

“You can't really predict what's going to happen, but you can only put your best foot forward and prepare
as well as possible. And that's what I try to do.”

Describing himself as a player, Lamptey said: “I'm hardworking, I like to get up and down, a lot of energy,
a lot of fun - hopefully I’ll keep the fans on the edge of their seats.

“I'm tough tackling, I love one-v-ones, defensive and attacking, I just love playing the game.”

CEO Christian Nourry said: “It is great to be able to announce Tariq’s arrival at QPR today.

“We’ve had good conversations about what he wants to achieve and how he feels that this is the right
environment for him to flourish in.

“With over 100 Premier League appearances to his name at 25, there is no doubting his talent.

Once again we sign another injured player, a player recovering from an ACL injury.

A very serious injury and an injury that takes a great length of time to recover from.

Tariq Lamptey is a very talented player when fit, unfortunately he has missed 148 games
over the last 5 seasons through injury.

In my opinion this is a massive risk taken by the club, let’s hope he can pull through and w
ear the hoops.

I think September may be a bit optimistic, but good luck to the lad and time will tell.

Mr Kerrins your last 3 words say it all.

“could be longer”.

Unfortunately, whoever is responsible for the recruitment at QPR is clearly not fit for purpose.

This to me is just another example of how badly run the club is, awarding the manager a new contract
after 10 home league defeats last season was undeserved. Losing 10 home league games is obviously
acceptable to the hierarchy, when in reality the manager should have been dismissed.
